Birch Bay Water and Sewer District (BBWSD) is now accepting applications for a Sewer Utility Operator. This is a full-time position with a generous benefit package. The District is looking for an experienced Sewer Utility Operator, but is willing to give on-the-job training and support to acquire Sewer Operator certification levels.  This is a great position for a hard-working person willing to learn and grow in a new career. 

Qualifications: 
Prefer experience in Sewer Utility Operator position; if not then 2 years experience in operations, construction, or maintenance. Applicants must have basic mechanical abilities and be willing to be trained in the specifics of sewer operation.  Applicants with less experience are encouraged to apply.   

Primary responsibilities include the following;  
• Performs a variety of functions relating to the operation and maintenance of the  Wastewater Treatment Plant and Wastewater Collection System, including Pump Stations. 
• Performs standard laboratory analyses necessary for WWTP process control as well as sampling and testing required under the NPDES permit.  It also helps meet the requirements to maintain the wastewater lab certification status managed by the Department of Ecology. 

Salary:   
$33.40/hour to $41.73/hour depending on experience

• District paid healthcare plans with a defined medical allowance, above the base salary, of $2,460.73 per month. A variety of plans to choose from and coverage begins at the start of employment. The unused amount of the allowance will be rolled into an HRA VEBA account to cover other medical expenses, such as deductibles, over-the-counter medications, etc. Employees may opt out of District healthcare options and receive the medical allowance in the HRA VEBA account.
