Principal Purpose Of Job:
This position serves as the business and operations manager for the City*s strategic broadband initiative. As such the successful candidate will be responsible for managing roll out and expansion of the municipal fiber optic network, Internet Service Provider operations, customer service operations, and business development.
Work Environment:
Work is performed in a standard office environment. Requires occasional attendance at evening meetings and supporting special project = deadlines outside the normal workweek. Some travel to off-site locations is required.
Training and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Services or a related field and 8 years* experience in complex project management, broadband marketing, sales and operations, implementation, network and systems management including 5 years progressively responsible leadership experience.
Knowledge Of:
- Applicable local, state and federal laws, rules, and regulations (including applicable FCC regulations, National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), and National Electrical Code (NEC));
- Managerial principles, practices and techniques;
- Modern IT industry practices; including technical, economic and competitive trends in the broadband industry;
- Community and customer engagement principles and practices;
- IP networking, GPON, and network security principles and concepts;
- Methods and techniques of communications technology, including principles and practices of installation and operation of broadband services;
- Broadband marketing, sales and operations;
- Project management principles and practices;
- Positive and effective customer service principles;
- Policy and procedure development practices;
- Financial accounting principles;
- Budgeting principles;
- Principles and practices of contract administration
