City of Burlington is seeking an individual with excellent customer service skills, and motivation to work steadily and independently to check in and shelve all library materials, and keep library materials neat and orderly. $12.00 per hour; up to 20 hours/week, FLSA non-exempt, non- represented position. Must be at least 16 years of age. Spanish language skills desirable.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Examines all returned library materials for damage or missing parts.
- Checks in library materials using computer software.
- Shelves materials alphabetically and by utilizing the Dewey Decimal classification system.
- Aligns all materials on the shelves in an orderly fashion. Shifts materials when shelves become crowded.
- Performs inspections of small areas of the library for incorrectly shelved items.
- Regularly refills supplies used by patrons.
- Performs limited cleaning on computers used by public.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to alphabetize, file numerically, and learn the Dewey Decimal classification system.
- Must have excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Motivation to work independently and steadily.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Spanish language skills desirable.
