Full-time position availablewith KCMO’s City Planning & Development Department, Development Compliance Division, 414 E. 12th St. Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Investigates various complaints and violations in the enforcement of the Zoning & Development Code, Mobile Home & Recreation Vehicle Parks, and Floodplain ordinances. Enforces the Building Code ordinance and model code violations related to Certificate of Occupancies, building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing requirements. Entails a great degree of difficulty in applying the highly technical provisions associated with zoning, development plans, construction and all the applicable ordinances related in new & existing land uses. Researches property ownership, corporate records, historical documents and maintains detailed records. Prepares and maintains clear, concise, consistent reports necessary to reach accurate determinations. Prepares case files for review by the City Prosecutor’s Office and gives testimony in court as needed. Interprets and explains codes to the general public, violators, elected and appointed officials, community groups, and other governing agencies and city departments. Utilizes general computer knowledge, skills and data entry abilities. REQUIRES high school graduation and 1 year of experience as an investigator, law enforcement officer or inspector conducting field investigations and inspections. Must be of legal age and be eligible to receive a commission as a special officer with the KCMO Police Department at time of appointment. Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.Salary Range:$18.24-$29.15/hour.Application Deadline: February 19. 2019.Apply online at www.kcmo.gov/careers.
