Associate Planner/Engineer - $5,142 to $6,304 per month, excellent benefits.
This position acts as Associate Planner or Junior Planner and conducts professional planning work of moderate difficulty to include: engineering and land use development project reviews, technical right-of-way use permit reviews, survey reviews. This position works under the direction and supervision of the Development Services Engineer & Planning Managers. The Associate Planner OR Junior Planner is expected to possess in-depth knowledge within one or more planning specialties such as economic development, comprehensive planning, or environmental planning. Occasionally, construction site visits will be required.
Examples of Work Performed:
- Well-developed knowledge of planning principles and practices
- Provide project management, review and approval of basic and complex right-of-way use/construction permits
- Provide engineering inspection and surveying support
- Resolve issues associated with engineering and planning projects
- Review project field survey data, property legal descriptions, title reports, and easement wording for City departments and development projects, for quality assurance
- Attend pre-application meetings, as requested, or in the absence of Development Services Engineering & Planning Managers
- Manual dexterity to utilize a computer, standard office equipment, and surveying tools
- Ability to reach, walk and move about on uneven surfaces in all weather conditions
- Visual acuity to read and compose written and numerical materials and other documentation
- Hearing and speaking ability to communicate effectively and provide information with others in person or on the telephone
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time; ability to view a computer monitor for extended periods of time
- In-depth knowledge of one or more planning specialization, such as economic development, transportation planning, or environmental planning
- Knowledge of principles, methodology, practices of research and data collection
- Knowledge of effective writing techniques
- Knowledge of or experience in community remediation and redevelopment, and knowledge of relevant Federal programs
- Statistical, algebraic, or geometric knowledge and ability to apply such knowledge in practical situations
- Knowledge of computer hardware and software programs, which may include Microsoft Office, Internet applications, econometric or transportation modeling, database management, or GIS.
