Business & Computer Instructional Technician II

full-time cyclic year regular classified Instructional Technician II position to provide support in the Business and Computer Information Systems department. This is a 10 month cyclic position. Cyclic positions are generally 10-11 months, September through June/July, annually, based on the academic calendar, and include scheduled leave without pay periods, which are subject to the academic calendar and relevant negotiated bargaining agreements.. The position reports to the Dean of Business, Trades and Technology, with direction from the instructional program faculty. The position is expected to begin September 23, 2019.
Position Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist instructors with lecture material; confer with instructors in establishing and developing assignments;
- Prepare equipment, materials and solutions for class work projects; prepare demonstrations as requested by instructors;
- Manage office supplies for department faculty;
- Prepare and copy handouts for class distribution;
- Proctor makeup exams; proctor exams or facilitate lab work if faculty are absent
- Assist in classroom when needed;
- Assist in arranging field trips for faculty;
- Research program specific topics (new technologies, online resources) at faculty request;
- Assist faculty in preparation of department reports/records;
- Tutor students in course subject matter; assist students in completing individual assignments;
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- An Associate's Degree, a Vocational Certificate, or a Bachelor's degree (or higher) in a business related field;
- OR Two years of college course work in a business or office support related field AND two years of office experience;
- OR equivalent education and experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office 2016 (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook);
- Demonstrated ability to follow directions, multi-task, and work independently.

Physical Work Environment:
Duties are performed in an office setting in an educational institution. Position requires 6-8 hours per day working at a computer; occasional twisting, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 20 pounds; finger manipulation, typing, grasping, repetitive motion; working in an open office environment with frequent interruptions and distractions; thinking clearly in stressful situations; working with individuals from diverse backgrounds; exercising independent judgment in gathering and evaluating program data.
Work schedule is generally Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., 40 hours per week, and includes scheduled leave without pay periods. Additional hours may be available during leave without pay periods, based on college needs. Leave without pay periods for the 2019-2020 academic year, beginning September 23, 2019 are anticipated to be:
October 28, 2019 (Faculty Inservice)
December 16, 2019, through January 3, 2020 (Winter Break)*
February 4, 2020 (Faculty Inservice)
March 27, 2020, through April 3, 2020 (Spring Break)
May 13, 2020 (Faculty Inservice)
June 26, 2020, through June 30, 2020
*will be paid state holidays in LWOP period.
