As the Student Career Program Manager, you will play a leading role in fulfilling SPH's commitment to student and alumni career development and experiential learning. The Student Career Program Manager will work with the Academic Program Director and other members of the Office of Career Services, Experiential Learning and Alumni Relations to support career development and experiential learning activities at CUNY SPH.
In addition to the CUNY Title Overview, duties include but are not limited to:
- Manages employer relations with an aim of expanding and diversifying CUNY SPH’s employer network.
- Counsels students and alumni both in person and remotely on career development and experiential learning.
- Administers employer and experiential learning site databases.
- Develops student- and public-facing content for various career service and experiential learning platforms.
- Assists and participates in College-wide and CUNY-wide activities, such as fieldwork orientations
- Liaises with the leadership of the Alumni Network to plan and co-host events and activities, including current student leaders and faculty.
- Recruits and cultivates relationships with members of the Alumni Network.
- Manages various aspects of office operations, and databases, such as Handshake; distributing emails and newsletters; and managing internal process documentation, data, and invoices.
- Performs other duties as needed.
Note:
- Until further notice, work will be performed in a hybrid manner with 70% onsite presence. All CUNY employees must reside with a commutable distance to the tri-state area.
- Candidates will be required to provide proof of vaccination against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of and authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates are required to be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required. Of the six years of experience, two years of experience in student services.
The ideal candidate should have:
- Experience in public health, policy, public administration or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of student programming and advising, career or experiential learning experience preferred.
- Experience with employer relations and outcomes assessment preferred.
- Familiarity with implementing new technologies.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong verbal/ written communication and presentation skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and a track-record of project follow-through.
- Understanding of the needs and challenges facing students from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience with CUNYFirst (PeopleSoft) preferred.
- Ability to work evening hours as needed
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW
Develops and manages career development and academic internship services and assumes a leadership role in the design and delivery of creative approaches to career education and planning and experiential learning.
- Assists in unit planning, such as setting goals and objectives, and monitors status of progress toward meeting goals
- Acts as liaison between the College and employer sponsors
- Directs a portfolio of targeted career programs, such as mentoring, internship, and alumni programs
- Plans and executes orientation sessions and workshops for students in the internship program; coordinates applications, interviews, and placement as part of overall student outreach
- Supervises student internships, assuring adherence to related College and governmental policies and regulations
- Designs and produces outcomes assessment reports; reviews outcomes and feedback and recommends strategies to expand and improve services.
- Evaluates new technologies, assessment materials, and other career tools, makes recommendations, and acquires/implements them
- All other duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience up to $94,707.
