POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a Financial Aid Officer II to join our team of professionals.

Duties include:

  • Coordinates all activities that pertain to the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine (HWCOM) Special Programs, including processing, awarding, and tracking of all financial aid packages.
  • Provides customer service to prospective and current students via emails, phone calls, and in-person. Advises current and prospective students on application procedures, eligibility criteria, program requirements, and other financial aid concerns. Counsels students on financial aid processing, awarding, scholarships, and debt management.
  • Monitors, analyses, and manages all Bursar functions for HWCOM Special Programs including student payments, balances due, and student refunds statuses.
  • Coordinates the HWCOM Scholarship Stewardship program.
  • Tracks participation, reports and prepares student materials for the HWCOM's Office of Financial Assistance Debt Management programs and other financial aid presentations. Conducts presentations for current and prospective students.
  • Prepares and complies reports for the HWCOM's Office of Financial Assistance which include, but are not limited to Scholarship Committee meetings, Debt Management programs, and OSA curriculum.
  • Manages ImageNow processing, CanvasMED integration, electronic forms, and website updates for the HWCOM Special Programs.
  • Researches and analyzes complex financial aid problems and recommends and implements appropriate solutions.
  • Acts as a change agent in all matters regarding the improvement and efficiency of projects. Prepares materials for special projects, including but not limited to, annual programs such as: Donor and Scholars events, Welcome Back, Interview Days, and Orientation.
  • Maintains the Financial Assistance Office's schedules and calendars, and answers questions for visitors and enrolled students regarding office policies, procedures, and services. Creates and designs PowerPoint presentations, info-graphics, flyers, and other reports.
  • Develops and implements procedures for HWCOM Special Programs to improve and streamline the financial aid process.
  • Ensures confidentiality of student records in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Attends and participates in professional workshops, meetings and training sessions to ensure adequate professional development as it pertains to current financial aid rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of financial aid or related experience or a Master's degree and one (1) year of financial aid or related experience.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience working in Higher Education.
