This is a 9.5-month cyclical position that is not scheduled to work in the summer.
We are looking for skilled and reliable food service professionals to apply for the position of Food Service Worker Lead. Successful candidates are knowledgeable about food preparation and delivery, are interested in being part of a dynamic and collaborative team, and are dedicated to serving our community.
The Head Start/ECEAP & Early Head Start food service program provides all enrolled children with meals prepared at the central kitchen and transported to different site locations throughout Snohomish County. The Food Service Worker Lead directs the work of twelve Food Service Workers in the preparation and transportation of meals throughout the program.
Specific job tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Food preparation and transport, and directing the work of part time and full time food service workers
- Kitchen maintenance, restocking inventory, and compliance with program standards and health department regulations
- Assist in maintaining the sanitary conditions required in a commercial production kitchen
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Possession of, or eligible to possess, a Snohomish County Food Worker Card
- Valid Washington State Driver's License and clean driving record
- One year of experience in quantity or institutional food preparation and serving
- More than one year of experience in quantity or institutional food preparation and serving
- Work experience in a school setting
- Work experience in a Head Start/ECEAP setting
- Knowledge of USDA requirements
- ServSafe certified
Ability to report to work at scheduled times. Work is performed in a commercial kitchen environment, which may involve temperature fluctuations and slippery work surfaces. The ability to stand for extended periods of time is essential. Ability to drive a multi-passenger van is essential. Operation of standard office equipment such as a PC/terminal, electronic calculator, copy machine, and multi-line phone system is required. ]Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are essential.
WORK SCHEDULE:
40 hours per week, Tuesday – Friday, 5:00 am – 3:30 pm, September through mid-June.
COMPENSATION
Salary range 33: Beginning salary is $2599 per month for 40 hours per week, with incremental increases to $3432 per month plus a full state benefits package, which includes tuition waivers for college classes, medical, dental, retirement options and more. Vacation and leave package includes 9 sick days per year, 8 scheduled holidays, 1 personal holiday, 2 personal leave days, and 10 vacation days per year (incremental increases to 18 vacation days per year).
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Hiring for this position is on the condition that candidates meet the following requirements:
Before Starting Work:
- Submit paperwork indicating negative TB Test or clear chest x-ray within one year of hire date
- Show proof of Tdap booster vaccination
- Show proof of MMR (measles) vaccination
- Submit proof of a cleared Portable Background Check from the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families
- Present a current Food Worker Card from the Snohomish County Health District
- Present a current Washington State Driver's License and proof of automobile insurance
- Submit proof of US Citizenship or ability to work in US (must show original social security or Alien Registration Card/Work Permit, as well as one piece of picture identification)
- Completion of all pertinent personnel/payroll forms
- Signed statement by a health provider that the employee is free from communicable diseases and physically able to perform job responsibilities.
- Successfully complete a nine-month probationary period (classified positions only)
- Keep all certifications and clearances in current status
- Complete 15 hours of Professional Development Training each year
