Hopa Mountain, a Bozeman-based nonprofit organization, seeks to hire a full-time Development Coordinator to support our programs. This position will pay $55,000 - $60,000.
Development Coordinator - Position Description
Hopa Mountains Mission: To invest in rural and tribal citizen leaders who are improving education, ecological health, and economic development. Hopa Mountain accomplishes its work by providing citizen leaders with training, technical assistance, networking, and financial assistance.
Summary Statement:
The Development Coordinator is responsible for supporting Hopa Mountains fundraising and outreach goals. The Development Coordinator reports to the Executive Director and works with staff, a team of contract specialists and volunteers. Principal responsibilities include implementing a multi-faceted fund development plan and managing day-to-day fund development activities to increase contributions and build lasting relationships with potential supporters across our service region and beyond.
Principal duties include individual donor development, including managing friend raising events, giving campaigns, and fundraising appeals, presenting Hopa Mountains mission in public venues, as well as processing and recording donor and gift information and stewarding donor relationships. This is a full-time professional position that requires periodic evening and weekend work. This position requires possession of a drivers license.
Responsibilities Include:
* Assisting in the development of a comprehensive annual fund development plan and calendar designed to support Hopa Mountains fundraising and general outreach goals
* Implementing a plan to increase individual donors
* Identifying and building relationships with key individual donors and groups
* Engaging in direct fundraising appeals to individual donors
* Developing, implementing, and managing friend raising and donor cultivation events
* Assisting in the development of volunteers for annual fund development
* Processing, recording, and managing donor and gift information utilizing the Salesforce CRM program and other fund development and communications platforms
* Managing and expanding membership program
* Initiating and developing a business partnership program
* Implementing a peer-to-peer fundraising plan and leading external donor giving campaigns
* Assisting in the development of fund development marketing materials
* Conducting prospect research for new funding opportunities
* Compiling necessary materials for and assisting in the completion of grant applications and reports
* Participating in regional stewardship events
* Managing development plan assessments and recommending adjustments
* Other responsibilities as required

Qualifications:
The Development Coordinator must be a team player and possess strong interpersonal skills along with a desire to help others succeed. The Development Coordinator must be able to build and maintain a strong rapport and positive relationships with donors, prospective donors, volunteers and staff.
Key knowledge, skills, and abilities include:
* Two+ years of experience working in a nonprofit environment
* Bachelor*s degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience
* Desire to support rural and tribal citizen leaders and communities
* Interest in ongoing learning and skill development
* Excellent listening skills and ability to elicit feedback
* Ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences; good *people skills*
* Exceptional writing, editing, messaging, and oral communications skills, including the ability to make presentations, both verbal and written
* Outstanding organizational skills
* Ability to think and act strategically
* Skills in event planning and management
* Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
* Able and willing to travel frequently and work a variable schedule when necessary

Compensation: $55,000 - 60,000 FTE position depending on experience. This is a professional appointment contingency on continued funding, PTO and workmans compensation as benefits of employment.
Conditions of Employment: Employees in this job are subject to the terms and conditions of an employment contract. Employment contracts are subject to review on a provisional six month basis with renewal pending satisfactory performance and continuation of funding.
