Job Summary:
JM Swank, LLC, headquartered in North Liberty, Iowa, is a leading food ingredients distributor serving a nationwide base of food and beverage marketers and manufacturers.The Manager, Warehouse role is to ensure the effective daily operations of the North Liberty, Iowa
warehouse.
Job Responsibilities:
· Directs, supervises and schedules all daily activities of assigned warehouse personnel to insure the maximum utilization and efficient
use of space and safety of the staff.
· Monitors workflow, work completed, error rates and related metrics and takes appropriate action when required.
· Develops and manages operational budget, implement cost reduction initiatives, and justify capital expenditures to optimize warehouse
performance.
· Effectively coaches the warehouse leads on departmental performance, decision making and communication.
· Investigates, develops, authors and/or implements methods, systems and procedures that will help reduce warehouse costs and improve
overall performance.
· Coordinates and communicates all necessary operational daily planning activities of warehousing with Sales, Transportation, Purchasing,
Customer Service and other appropriate office personnel.
· Implements processes, policies and controls for accurate and effective inventory management including cycle counting, physical inventories, tracking outside inventory (3PL and storage trailers), slotting of product, fulfilling customer special requests and reduction of slow-moving inventory and damage.
· Ensures for adequate inspection practices for all inbound and outbound products to certify that they meet proper quality and regulatory
standards, regarding labeling, pest infestation, damage, age, consistency, etc.
· Hires and trains the warehouse staff.
· Performs evaluations and makes salary recommendations.
· Coordinates with the Safety Director and Quality Director to ensure compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
· Acquires continuing education skills and training necessary to ensure the Company is current with industry developments applicable to
operations.
· Performs at all times in a manner consistent with Company policies, procedures, and practices to preserve the Company’s image and status for offering preferred customer service.
· Performs and holds responsibility for duties associated with maintaining BRC standards and certification.
· Supporting other activities and projects as assigned or dictated by business priorities.
Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:
· A bachelor or associate degree in any related area such as Logistics, Transportation, and/or Warehousing is desirable.
· A high school diploma or GED is minimally required.
· Five years of supervisory experience in distribution, warehousing, or a related industry desired, with a minimum of three years required.
· Previous forklift, yard tractor, and/or over-the-road operational experience is desired.
· Knowledge of food safety and defense, as well as audits and inspections within the distribution industry is desirable.
· Strong leadership attributes required.
· Strong knowledge of inventory control processes required.
· Experience with software packages used to run wholesale distribution operations, including ERP, WMS, RF, Voice Picking and automated data collection solutions is required.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Internet Explorer required.
· Effective written and oral communication skills required.
· Ability to be adaptable to changing work environment required.
· Ability to perform and lead in a team environment; including coaching and developing staff at all levels required.
· High degree of flexibility needed in order to meet changing business needs.
· Demonstrated longevity of employment preferred.
