SENIOR ARCHITECT
Senior Architect:
Nelson Associates, a well-established multidisciplinary design firm in Clinton, NY, is seeking a talented Senior Architect/Project Manager to join the firm’s management team. The candidate will be responsible for architectural design and will oversee the preparation of construction documents for buildings of various occupancies and specialty structures. The candidate must possess the technical ability to work independently on projects from schematic design through the construction phase with minimal guidance. Duties and Responsibilities:
• This is a full-time position.
• Will have leadership of a production team, which would involve creating a conceptual design package, revising the design per client feedback, and formulating a complete set of construction documents.
• Must have at least 10 years of experience in a production environment with experience in architectural management concepts and workflows, and an understanding of structural and MEP systems.
• Must have extensive knowledge of building and permit processes.
• Will train and oversee associates and conduct performance reviews.
• Must have experience in commercial and institutional projects.
• Will manage deadlines and budgets while managing excellence in design.
• Will coordinate with team members, contractors, clients, fellow team members, and building officials.
• Will perform construction administration functions including the review of shop drawings and interpretation of construction documents.
• Must have the ability to work well under pressure, prioritize multiple projects, and adjust work accordingly, often against tight deadlines.
Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Architecture Degree or Master of Architecture Degree.
• Minimum (10) years’ experience as practicing architect.
• (10) years’ experience in architectural management.
• Working knowledge of standard construction practices and the International Building Code, NFPA, ADA, etc.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work as a team member interacting with architects, owners, contractors, and coworkers.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD is required.
• Working knowledge of Revit, etc. is a plus.
• New York Architecture Registration (RA) license is required.

Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Manager:
Nelson Associates is seeking an energetic, positive, self-motivated person to join a well-established professional design firm to work as a mechanical/electrical engineering manager.
This individual will be an integral part of the architectural and engineering design group, working alongside engineers, architects, and project managers in performing technical design and specification. This individual will direct, manage, and regularly evaluate the mechanical/electrical engineering functions by working through assigned project engineers and technical personnel. This position is also accountable for promoting and implementing company and department goals and objectives in a positive and constructive manner that motivates staff. The position requires a strong “technical” working manager that can grow and mentor their team. The firm’s mission is to be a strong growth company that gives the opportunity to grow beyond this position for the right candidate.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Identify, plan, recommend, and manage a variety of technical projects through assigned project personnel and/or technical personnel.
• Design and develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for commercial, institutional, education, health care, multi-family housing, and other related type projects.
• Produce contract documents, including plans and specifications.
• Perform heating/cooling calculations.
• Perform system sizing calculations.
• Prepare construction and design cost estimates.
• Work with multi-discipline project teams to coordinate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection with architectural documents.
• Prepare technical reports.
• Perform review of calculations, drawings, and specifications prepared by technical staff.
• Mentor and train entry-level mechanical engineers/designers.
Requirements:
• BS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technology.
• 5-20 years’ experience working with mechanical and HVAC systems (mid to senior level desired).
• PE registration required.
• Skilled in AutoCAD (Revit a plus).
• Proficiency in the design of mechanical systems for various building types.
• Knowledge and understanding of national and local mechanical and energy codes.
• Strong knowledge of design of HVAC systems.
• Ability to read and understand P&IDs, control strategies, and the development of control schematics based upon these documents.
• Ability to work with multi-discipline project teams.
• Ability to make basic technical decisions regarding analysis and detailing.
• Ability to work independently to effectively complete routine tasks.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills that are well organized.
Salary Range: $65,000 to $80,000
