Job Title: Customer Service Representative
Department: Circulation
Reports To: Circulation Manager
Overview of Job Responsibilities:
Responsible to provide prompt, friendly, and courteous service to subscribers over the phone as well as at the front counter. Uses the computer to enter sales orders and research customer questions. Receives payments, make change, and write receipts. Accurately logs and dispatches messages, shortages and complaints. Assist contractors with daily transactions. Makes outgoing telemarketing calls for subscriptions
Minimum Qualifications: a high school diploma or equivalent, typing 30 wpm, and at least 1 year experience using a computer database program.
Preferred Qualifications: 10 key by touch and customer service experience.
Essential Functions:
- Maintain a calm, objective and professional demeanor in adverse conditions.
- Ability to use a cash register and make change accurately.
- Ability to reconcile the cash register.
- Ability to make telemarketing calls for subscriptions.
- Perform mathematical calculations at a high school level.
- Ability to key data into the computer quickly and accurately while on the phone or talking to a customer in person.
- Ability to use the computer to research customer questions.
- Professional communication skills including telephone skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Read, write and speak English at a professional level.
- Observe, memorize, record and recall detail.
- Interact successfully with others in a business setting.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment to meet customer needs.
- Work successfully with others in a busy, deadline driven environment.
- Maintain regular attendance
Additional Job Functions: Process incoming and outgoing mail.
Work Environment: Work is performed in an office setting that may be noisy. Requires the ability to sit for extended period of time using a computer.
