Tribal Mental Health CounselorSwinomish Indian Tribe
The Swinomish Indian Tribal Community is recruiting for a full time Tribal Mental Health Counselor 40 hours a week.
The Tribal Mental Health Counselor provide counseling to elders, adults, teens and children in the clinical setting, school, and / or through home visits. Write letters as requested by clients, school., court, and other agencies. Attend court sessions with clients. Electronic Record keeping including; billing, intakes, progress notes, treatment plans, consultation notes, monthly reports, faxes / copies. Initiate, facilitate and conduct group sessions relationships. Attend suicide prevention training and provide intervention and information to clients. Accompany clients to teen clinics. Medical center, dental appointments, and hospital as needed. Schedule and provide individual 30 to 90 minute therapy sessions minutes. Communicate with supervisors, social workers, CPS, DSHS, probation, Swinomish Police Department. Wellness program. Crisis intervention as needed at schools and tribal facilities. Attend Cultural events including; funerals, canoe journey, community dinners, health fairs and other opportunities to support and advocate for clients.
Education Requirements: Master's Degree in counseling and Licensed Mental Health Counselor.
Skills required: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, Understanding of psychological and social development of children. Case management and working with other agencies, Crisis intervention including suicide, domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse / neglect, and death. Ability to interview, gather information, ask appropriate questions, perform assessments, and initiate treatment. Experience and training in multi-cultural services. The perfect candidate must be able to pass successfully criminal background, and drug test.
Salary depends on experience.
