Responsibilities
She/he works for The Minneapolis VA Health Care System Call Center, Minneapolis, MN. This position is in Richfield, MN.
The MSA is responsible for scheduling appointments, including interpreting and verifying provider orders in accordance with VHA national scheduling guidelines. Responsibilities also include reading patient electronic medical record and making decisions concerning outcome of calls based on information found; determines medical necessity of patient requests appropriately seeking assistance from clinical staff for urgent concerns; direct symptom related calls to the triage line; enters patient contact notes appropriately; view alerts appropriately.
Assignments at this level include, but are not limited to:
* Scheduling, canceling, rescheduling patient's appointments and/or consults.
* Entering no-show information.
* Monitoring the electronic wait list.
* Preparing for clinic visits.
* Monitoring both inpatient and outpatient appointments for areas of responsibility.
* Ensuring that encounter forms are completed in order to obtain appropriate workload credit.
* Verifying and updating demographics and insurance information.
* Processing all emergency and non-emergency transfers to other VA facilities or private hospitals.
* Performing basic eligibility, co-pays and pre-authorization requirements for specific coverage.
* This work is primarily done by use of telephone.
