The School of Business Department of Operations and Information Management is seeking a full-time Temporary University Specialist. This position will report to the Department Manager, with dotted line reporting to the Department Head, and will perform office coordination duties and administrative functions for the Department. The position will be based at the Storrs campus. Occasional travel to other campuses, or evening/weekend hours may be required in support of Department, program, or center activities and events.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include but are not limited to:
- Performing general office responsibilities.
- Assisting with various scheduling, catering, room reservation and technology needs of the Department.
- Acting as first point of contact for the OPIM Department via phone, email, or in-person.
- Processing travel and/or expense reimbursements, and other related fiscal and administrative documents.
- Assisting with all aspects of purchasing.
- Assisting OPIM Innovate Director with capstone projects.
- In collaboration with supervisor and others, designing, scheduling, and producing informational and promotional materials.
- Updating social media and the Department’s website.
- Assisting the OPIM Department with special projects, reports, or operations.
- Compiling and maintaining resource materials and program information.
- Managing departmental space, including room reservations, work order entry, and securing the OPIM Suite and Gladstein Lab.
- Processing student employment timecards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and two years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Organizational skills.
- Ability to plan, organize and execute events.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Dependable transportation and willingness and ability to work occasionally evening and weekend hours, and travel in-state in support of department and/or program activities.
APPOINTMENT TERMS
This is a full-time temporary position for an initial period of six months, with the possibility of extension dependent upon program needs and available funding. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled. Successful candidates will be contacted to schedule an interview.
