The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking applications for an Assistant Director at, Dubois Center for the School of Professional Studies. This is a full-time, permanent staff position. 

Purpose of the Position: The assistant director has overall management responsibility and authority in the area of events and venue management at the Dubois Campus for all areas other than academic programming. Position has primary responsibility for internal relations in order to build strong relationships and market the Dubois Campus to those that manage events on campus. Must fully understand the mission of the Dubois Campus and the School of Professional Studies and demonstrate the ability to attract clients who embody that mission. Position has on-duty management responsibility and authority in the absence of the Associate Director in all areas, including academic programming.

Salary:  $61,999 - $68,888

Minimum Qualifications:  Graduation from a four-year college or university and at least four years of program associate experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Essential Job Duties:  The assistant director has overall management responsibility and authority in the area of events and venue management at The Dubois Center and overall in the absence of the associate director. for all areas other than academic programming. Primarily responsible for internal relations in order to build strong relationships and market The Dubois Center to those that manage events on campus. Must fully understand the mission of The Dubois Center and demonstrate the ability to attract clients who embody that mission. The assistant director will manage large, high-profile events. The Dubois Center is considered “Assigned Space” under University Policy 601.6 Scheduling of University Space and therefore exempt from many space assignment policies. The position must be able to interpret University policy and utilize best practices to generate policies for The Dubois Center for which clear direction is not given. The position is responsible for writing and implementing policies that have significant legal implications. The position is responsible for a thorough understanding of University and State policies and must be able to apply policies appropriately.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience engaging the community in an educational setting. Experience developing internal and external outreach plans. 5 – 8 years of experience managing a venue. Experience interpreting policy and writing procedures for which no clear direction may be apparent. Significant familiarity with UNC Charlotte, The Dubois Center, and its mission. Proven experience managing large-scale events Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to a variety of stakeholders (internal and external) Ability to problem solve under pressure and make decisions to identify critical issues which may affect the outcome of planned events. Proven ability to meet with prospective clients to determine event needs. Demonstrated ability to act calmly, manage and take the lead in an emergency situation.
