The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at the University of Virginia seeks a Senior Finance Generalist

Senior Finance Generalists perform a hybrid of complex finance work, encompassing a range of specialties, such as accounting, budget, payroll, financial aid, financial analysis, purchasing, or treasury. Senior Finance Generalists assume more responsibilities that require deep analysis. They are distinguished by years of experience, depth of institutional knowledge, and sophistication of expertise. Work is conducted independently, and Senior Finance Generalists are responsible for training and mentoring emerging finance professionals.

Produce, reconcile, and distribute the financial reports for gift, endowment, local, and select state general project, task, and award combinations on a consistent basis according to University guidelines and the reconciliation schedule.

Ensure that all accounts are funded and budgeted monthly, that endowment projects are funded and budgeted semi-annually, that state projects are funded upon request, and that local projects are funded as needed.

Examine cash balances periodically, invest funds, or spend appropriately to ensure the optimization of cash management.

Monitor project activity and work with stakeholders to address deficits or close projects and tasks upon completion.

Provide assistance identifying funding sources and completing forms upon request.

Enter employee reimbursements and payments in the Integrated System, in a timely and accurate manner.

In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.

This position will remain open until filled. This is an Exempt level, benefited position. This position will not sponsor applicants for work visas. The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment. For questions about the position or the application process, please contact Daniel Strong, Senior Recruiter at das6zb@virginia.edu.

The expected pay range for this position is $65,000 to $85,000 per annum. UVA provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position.
