Position Summary: Assists the Director in planning, directing, and coordinating the operation of the Office of Financial Aid & Student Employment. The Assistant Director will also assist in the development and management of financial aid information systems, including uploads and downloads of the data to and from other computer systems. Duties include:
- Works with the Director in determining and implementing policies, procedures, and philosophy of the Office of Financial Aid & Student Employment.
- Assists in administering need-based aid, including need analysis and packaging according to federal and institutional policies and guidelines.
- Coordinates the student employment programs encompassing the placement and management of student employees within all areas of the University, the monitoring of earnings and the fiscal accountability of the program.
- Processes, verifies, and validates information and documents for various Federal, State, University, and outside agencies.
- Assists in the continued development of financial aid information systems including electronic file transfer and batch financial aid processes.
- Coordinates the federal loan program from entrance counseling, awarding, origination, disbursement, exit counseling and reconciliation.
- Disseminates information to students, parents, and the public regarding sources of financial aid.
- Assists in office management including the supervision of student employees in the Office of Financial Aid & Student Employment.
- Serves as a liaison with parents, students, campus academic and administrative offices in matters relating to student financial aid.
- Assists in the coordination of deferments of tuition, fees, room, and board at the University.
- Coordinates outreach programs (i.e.: Financial Aid nights in the resident halls, College Goal Sunday, EAP programming, etc.) including the development of publications & communications.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those enumerated above which do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
- Three (3) years of professional financial aid experience or financial accounting experience.
- Working knowledge of financial aid management systems (Banner/SCT experience is particularly useful) or accounting software is required.
- Ability to interact well with students, faculty, and staff in a customer service environment.
- Multi-lingual or bi-lingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
Salary & Benefits: The hiring salary range is $69,669 – $92,356 and is commensurate upon candidates' experience. WCSU offers a comprehensive benefits package.
