Description
Whatcom Community College invites applications for part-time, adjunct Medical Assisting faculty positions for Spring Quarter 2020 and to expand the pool of instructors for future positions that may occur. Applications will be kept on file through the current academic year.
Qualifications, Salary and AppointmentMinimum Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in Medical Assisting or a closely related discipline from an accredited college or university.
- Current certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Medical Doctor or Physician's Assistant.
- Minimum of three years' recent work experience as a Medical Assistant or related health care professional.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Teaching experience in a post-secondary institution.
- Experience in a community or technical college.
- Experience with and understanding of educational theory and techniques.
- Experience in curriculum design and innovation, including the development of teaching materials for an online/hybrid format.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication abilities with students, colleagues and community professionals.
- Develops innovative ideas that provide solutions to all types of workplace challenges and brings ideas to supervisor.
- Earns the trust, respect, and confidence of coworkers and public through consistent honesty, forthrightness and professionalism in all interactions.
- Creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Actively contributes to a work environment that embraces diversity and uses diverse perspectives to enhance the attainment of organizational goals. Treats everyone with respect and dignity, and appreciates the differences in people.
- Evidence of competence using instructional technology including Canvas.
- Evidence of proficiency in using multiple instructional strategies such as flipped classrooms, simulations, case studies.
- An understanding of the mission of a community college.

- Commitment to collaboration and working together as a team.
- Based on the current adjunct salary schedule.
- Spring Quarter 2020. Future departmental needs will be assessed quarterly.
