The Position
This is a regular full-time position that reports directly to the County Administrator and Business Services Director. This working management position directly supervises the County’s Human Resources team and performs advanced technical and professional level personnel management support functions, i.e.: assists County officials and managers with proper hiring and discipline practices, personnel policies and procedures; assists in the administration of collective bargaining agreements and in conducting labor negotiations; oversees recruitment process, testing and selection of County personnel; coordinates insurance programs, workers’ compensation, liability and other risk activity; assists in resolving claims and/or grievances against the County; provides professional level management support functions including training, data analysis, studies, and policy development, prepares reports, collects data, and represents County interests before diverse groups; provides technical assistance to a variety of County departments, participates in County and department leadership teams, and is a member of the County Administration Team.
The Qualifications
The position requires three (3) years of progressive Human Resources/Personnel program administration experience including demonstrated success working as a member of a team in a senior leadership role, a Bachelor's degree in business or public administration with emphasis on human resources management or equivalent; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. PHR/SPHR/SHRM certification
preferred. Public sector experience is also preferred. Desirable qualities include a commitment to working in a
collaborative, friendly team environment. The ideal candidate will be intuitive, flexible, adaptable, and able to exercise excellent leadership, judgment, with proven skills in personnel development, supervision, and the ability to be considerate and respectful of employees.
Compensation
The salary for the Human Resources Manager will be $63,887-$80,280/ year, dependent on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
